Love Letters - lovers savor the words of love letters. They do not just read them to get facts and information, but read them to sense something of the heartbeat of the one who writes to them. The Bible has sometimes been called God’s love message to us. There can be no doubt that the Bible is the foundational means by which God communicates to us. If that is so, we do well to take it very seriously. It might not be enough to read the Bible often, or read lots of the Bible. We may not so much need to do more reading, as deeper reading

If we believe that the Bible is God’s love message to us, we are missing out on knowing His love fully if we only give it a passing glance.

"Oh, how I love your instructions!

I think about them all day long.

Your commands make me wiser than my enemies,

for they are my constant guide."Psalm 119:97-98 (NLT)

The Bible has sometimes been called God’s love message to us.

There is some truth in that, even though the Bible itself is at times a complex piece of literature that might cause us to scratch our heads in puzzlement rather than get all warm and fuzzy inside.

There can be no doubt that the Bible is the foundational means by which He communicates to us.

If that is so, we do well to take it very seriously.

If anyone writes to us conveying life and death information, we dare not dismiss it or read it in a superficial way.

We want to get to the heart of what it is all about.

And if we regard it as in any way conveying a message of love and grace to us, we must not be content with a quick look, or an occasional glance.

This would be to miss out on the love and miss out on any proper response to that love.

Lovers savour the words of love letters.

They do not just read them to get facts and information, but read them to sense something of the heartbeat of the one who writes to them.

We certainly need to understand the information conveyed, but just as certainly need to grasp the heart of the one doing the conveying.

It might not be enough to read the Bible often, or read lots of the Bible.

We may not so much need to do more reading, as deeper reading.

Love Letters
lyrics
Love letters straight from your heart
Keep us so near while apart
I'm not alone in the night
When I can have all the love you write

I memorize every line

And I kiss the name that you sign
And, darling, then I read again right from the start
Love letters straight from your heart

I memorize every line
And I kiss the name that you sign
And, darlin', then I read again right from the start Love letters straight from your heart
