Believe the Word - Persian wise men were more in tune to the prophecies of scripture than the Jews were. Daniel had been promoted to be the head of all the wise men of Babylon. Daniel had come through the lions' den victoriously and had no doubt gained the reputation as the greatest wise man of all. It was during this time that Daniel wrote the prophecy which pinpointed the time of the Messiah's birth. This no doubt provided the inspiration for these wise men. The star simply served as a sign and directed them towards where the king was born

"Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east toJerusalem."Matthew 2:1

How could this be?

The greatest event in the history of God's dealings with mankind was taking place and the leaders of God's people didn't even know about it.

Foreigners who were unfamiliar with the covenants of God perceived what God was doing more than His own chosen people! (Ephesians 2:12)

These were gentiles but they were called wise men.

The apparent answer to this is that these Persian wise men were more in tune to the prophecies of scripture than the Jews were.

Daniel had been promoted to be the head of all the wise men of Babylon (Daniel 2:48).

While in Babylon, Daniel had come through the lions' den victoriously and had no doubt gained the reputation as the greatest wise man of all (Daniel 6).

It was during this time that Daniel wrote the prophecy of Daniel (Daniel 9:24-27), which pinpointed the time of the Messiah's birth.

This no doubt provided the inspiration for these wise men.

The star simply served as a sign that the prophesied event had come and directed them towards where the king was born.

The Jews had these same prophecies.

They just weren't waiting in anticipation for the birth of the Messiah.

The Word of God only profits us if we believe it (Hebrews 4:2).

Let's not make the same mistake.

Mix the truths that you know from God's Word with faith.

Gifts for a King - let us be like the wise men and worship Jesus and give to Him. God wants your life. We will be glad that we did, because we can never outgive God. The greatest gift that you can give Him this Christmas is yourself. That is what God wants from us. The same Jesus who was born in Bethlehem, died on the cross, and rose from the dead is alive right now. Jesus is knocking at the door of your life. Are you going to open it, let Him in, and make room for Him?

The Star of Bethlehem - the star of Bethlehem appeared only to the magi in the East. There is no biblical record of anyone else observing the star of Bethlehem. The magi in the East saw something in the heavens - the star of Bethlehem - that alerted them to the fact that the Jewish Messiah was born. Celestial bodies normally move from east to west, yet the star of Bethlehem led the magi from Jerusalem south to Bethlehem - the star was likely an angel or a manifestation of the Shekinah Glory

Christ the Lord - as the shepherds approached baby Jesus, they could witness how He was fulfilling prophecy. He was the Christ, “wrapped in the swaddling garments.” He was “born to redeem” and save. The angels focused on giving glory to God. They also signaled His desire that all people could experience peace and goodwill and a time when wars no longer would be necessary. Jesus had come to fulfill prophecy as the Prince of Peace. This Christmas, remember to focus on God

Lions Go Hungry - you may feel like you have made disastrous mistakes in your life - you can start changing that today because as a child of God, you have inside you His very own force of faithfulness

"The Lord preserveth the faithful" - (Psalm 31:23).

It doesn't matter how dark the world around us may become in the coming days.

It doesn't matter how hard the devil tries to bring us down, if we're steadfast, dependable and trustworthy - constantly serving the Lord and doing what is right - God will bring us through in victory.

If you have any question about that, just take a look at what He did in the life of Daniel.

When Daniel was just a young man, he served as one of three presidents directly under the king.

Daniel did his job so faithfully that he was preferred above the other presidents, and the king considered putting him over the whole realm.

When the other presidents found out about the king's promotion plan for Daniel, they were jealous. So they began looking for some wrongdoing to accuse him.

The Bible records that they could find no fault in him.

And since they couldn't dig up any real dirt on him, they decided to scheme and trap him. That trap led to Daniel's being thrown into the lions' den to be eaten.

Daniel 6:16, 18-20 records the king's words to Daniel as he was being thrown to the lions, and then the morning after he was NOT eaten by the lions.

In these verses, the king mentions twice that Daniel continually served God.

What stood out to the king was Daniel's faithfulness.

He was faithful - both in spiritual things and in natural things. Because of that faithfulness, God preserved Daniel.

What God did for Daniel, He'll do for you.

If you'll be faithful with what God has given you right now, with what He's told you to do, He'll preserve you.

He wants you to be faithful spiritually by fellowshiping with Him in the Word and praying every day.

He wants you to put yourself in a position of increase in the natural realm by being faithful with the material things He's given you.

For example, if you live in a rented house, and you want a house of your own, treat that rented house as though it belongs to you.

Don't tear it up and be careless with it.

Jesus said, "If ye have not been faithful in that which is another man's, who shall give you that which is your own?" (Luke 16:12).

Until now, you may have acted like the most unfaithful person around.

You may feel like you have made disastrous mistakes in your life by being undependable and untrustworthy.

You may have always been a quitter.

But you can start changing that today because as a child of God, you have inside you His very own force of faithfulness.

So start yielding to it.

Begin to strengthen that force by meditating on God's Word.

Read and study what it says about faithfulness. You can be among those who "are called, and chosen and faithful!" (Revelation 17:14).

Remind the devil of that the next time he pressures you to quit.

Remind him of it when he tempts you to do less than your best.

Determine to be the kind of person God can trust to follow through, no matter what the inconvenience or discomfort.

Say, "Lord, I am a faithful person. I will get my job done and do it well. I will trust You to help me, energize me and create in me the power and desire. And I'll stay with it at any cost."

Speak the Word: I am faithful, and the Lord preserves me. (Psalm 31:23)
