"O God, listen to my complaint. Protect my life from my enemies’ threats" - (Psalm 64:1).
Many psalms are a mixture of anguish, praise, pleadings, and joy.
David often wrote about the perilous situations he was in and cried out for God to protect and deliver him.
David was also capable of writing words of great triumph and happiness.
But voicing a complaint to God?
David was a valiant and fearless warrior, certainly a bold man, so perhaps it could be expected he would address God in such a way.
David was open and honest when he prayed.
He expressed whatever concern or praise was on his heart.
Christians should also speak to God about their frustrations, problems, and fears.
They should, however, be respectful and refrain from accusing God of wrongdoing.
God understands and listens in the tough times as well as the good times.
Like a father wants open communication with his child, God loves to hear His children’s voices.
Praise and cries of despair are always welcome, and He will respond.
Challenge for Today: Pray with an open and honest heart today.
