"All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.
"God presented him as a sacrifice of atonement, through faith in his blood." - Romans 3:23-25
Many Christians lack a basic understanding of what atonement really means-it is the blood of Jesus making amends for our sins.
It is the preordained reconciliation that came forth because of the work that Christ did on the cross (1 Peter 1:19-20).
The amazing thing is that while you and I were still sinners, Christ died for us - He did not wait until we asked for forgiveness; He did it while we were still in the clutches of sin - "while we knew Him not" (Romans 5:8).
Christ is our high priest who entered the holy of holies on the behalf of mankind.
He followed the procedure that God the Father laid out.
The sacrifice of His life fulfilled the requirements that God demanded.
Christ's atonement was perfect - it was complete.
We can now boldly approach the throne of grace with confidence.
God will have mercy on us in our time of need (Hebrews 4:16).
Seek Him today; your sins have been atoned for, now and forever.
Thank you for everything you have done and continue to do for me, Jesus.
Thank you for your sacrifice and blood that makes me worthy to come before the Father.
Let me be dead to sin but alive in you.
Let me never forget what you have done for me.
Amen.
