On the Throne - Solomon’s reign foreshadowed that of the coming Messiah — a time of divine blessing, peace, and prosperity. As long as God remained on the throne of the king’s heart, things went well. Christians must surrender their will, their possessions, and their lives to His rule. That will lead to success in this life and the next

God is the true king over all people and particularly over Israel.

Solomon was chosen and anointed by the Lord to be king over the nation of Israel, to sit “on the throne of the Lord.”

He was set apart to reign as God’s regent over His people.

So Solomon took the throne of the Lord in place of his father, David, and he succeeded in everything, and all Israel obeyed him (1 Chronicles 29:23).

Solomon’s reign foreshadowed that of the coming Messiah — a time of divine blessing, peace, and prosperity.

His subjects pledged loyal submission to him.

And God gave him greater splendor and wisdom than had ever been known.

As long as God remained on the throne of the king’s heart, things went well.

The same is true for every person.

Christians must surrender their will, their possessions, and their lives to His rule.

That will lead to success in this life and the next.

Thought for Today: Make sure God is Lord of your life.

It Starts With Humility - Solomon recognized his inability to govern the people and asked the Lord to work through him. He knew where he stood before the Lord. He knew the people he was to govern were not his people, but the Lord’s. The Lord was pleased with Solomon’s request and gave him more than he asked for, including riches and fame

Life is meaningless without the Lord sitting on the throne of our lives - the cycle of life and death is unaffected by a man's position, power, prosperity, or poverty, for all are destined to die. During his life, Solomon used his position, power, and prosperity, in an effort to discover the meaning of life. Life has meaning in Christ for without Him we am nothing

Promise Fulfilled - God told Solomon that He would fulfill the covenant promises He had made to the people of Israel and to Solomon’s father, David. God gave him the wisdom to build the temple. Time spent in God’s Word will strengthen a believer’s faith and help him or her resist the temptation to distrust God
