The Great Commission - obedience is the goal of the Great Commission. It means baptizing those who believe and teaching them to obey all Christ commanded. Only doers of God's word are true disciples. Initially Jesus told His disciples to go only to “the lost sheep of Israel.” But now He commands them to go to all nations (ethnic groups). With true disciples in only about half of the twenty-four thousand “nations,” much remains to be done in fulfilling this Great Commission. The command comes with a promise, and His presence makes it possible

"Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit ..." Matthew 28:19

Indeed, this is a Great Commission!

The main verb of command in the original language is not “go” but “make disciples.”

Fulfilling the Great Commission requires the making of disciples, not mere deciders.

It means baptizing those who believe and teaching them to obey all Christ commanded.

Obedience is the goal of the Great Commission.

Only doers of His word are true disciples (Matthew 7:21; John 8:31).

There is another way in which this is a Great Commission.

Initially Jesus told His disciples to go only to “the lost sheep of Israel” (Matthew 10:6).

But now He commands them to go to all nations (ethnic groups).

With true disciples in only about half of the twenty-four thousand “nations,” much remains to be done in fulfilling this Great Commission.

Does this sound like “mission impossible”

It would be if it were not for Christ’s promise to be with those who go to make disciples in all nations.

The command comes with a promise, and His presence makes it possible.

The Unchanging Message - the message of the gospel has always been the same. Jesus is fully God as the second person of the trinity. He became fully man and lived a perfect life. He humbled himself and walked among us so that we might know him and to die for the sins of mankind. He died a brutal death and rose again. That is the gospel of Jesus Christ. That is what all of our lives are hitched to. The message of the gospel has always been the same. "For the word of the cross is folly to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God”

It's a New Day - this is a season of new beginnings with lots of potential for the kinds of miracles our God loves to work - transforming peoples' lives. As we watch for the true signs of His coming, let us keep our focus on the daily opportunities He provides for imparting His new life to everyone we meet. That could be the greatest miracle of all these days. Even as we witness these amazing things, we ought not to forget that the great commission has not changed: "Make disciples of all nations" remains the Lord's priority and mandate for us
