The Transfiguration - Peter, James, and John are part of Jesus’ inner circle. And so, they witnessed Jesus glorified and speaking with Moses and Elijah, the two greatest prophets in the Jewish religion. We don’t know what they spoke about, but it would have been an incredible conversation to have listened in on. Moses and Elijah were two prophets who had foreshadowed the coming of the Messiah in their own ministries. This was a high point in the spiritual life of the three disciples who witnessed it. Think back over your own life - about some key spiritual high points and what they meant for you

"And he said to them, 'Truly I tell you, some who are standing here will not taste death before they see that the kingdom of God has come with power.'

"After six days Jesus took Peter, James and John with him and led them up a high mountain, where they were all alone. There he was transfigured before them.

"His clothes became dazzling white, whiter than anyone in the world could bleach them.

"And there appeared before them Elijah and Moses, who were talking with Jesus" - (Mark 9:1–4, NIV).

Jesus progressively revealed who he was to his disciples.

He prepared them for the final journey to Jerusalem and the terrible events that will unfold there.

And here, he revealed himself to three of his disciples as never before!

When Jesus told his disciples that there were some there who will see that the kingdom of God has come with power, he wasn’t talking about his second coming.

He was talking about the kingdom of God that has come to this earth with his incarnation and ministry, in his own person.

Peter, James, and John are part of Jesus’ inner circle, since he made a point of including them in some very special events.

Within the context of Mark’s story about Jesus, I suspect that they were encouraging Jesus to go on and fulfil his mission through the Cross.

This was a high point in the spiritual life of the three disciples who witnessed it.

The Mystery of God Becoming a Man - the more you think about the fact that God became a man, that he became a baby, the more staggering it gets. And to be a true Christian, it is essential to believe this truth about Jesus. Jesus did not empty himself of his divine attributes, but he did accept the limitations of humanity. We know that Jesus was tired, hungry, lonely and thirsty. He experienced all of this. So, the next time you’re tired, hungry, thirsty, weary or lonely, know that you have a God who understands what it’s like to stand in your shoes. He is the only one who can accurately say that he feels your pain

Streams in my desert: The Transfiguration - The presence of God's voice in a cloud resembled the way God spoke to the Israelites in the wilderness in the Old Testament       wip

Streams in my desert: The Shekinah Glory - God’s goal is to “reside”, to be a permanent resident, with His people. He can “reside" in your heart, mind, and lifestyle if you want Him to. All we have to do is ask for it and be willing to let His Shekinah glory be the controlling element of your life. The word “Shekinah” was adopted by Christians as a way of describing God’s presence with His people. “Shekinah glory” is a symbol referring to that divine presence. Christ ascended to heaven in the glory cloud

Streams in my desert: The blessing of prophecy - be wary of false prophets - test the spirits to see whether they are from God , for many false prophets have gone out into the world     wip

Streams in my desert: Halos in the Bible - the Bible does not directly speak of halos. The closest expressions are found in examples of Jesus in Revelation described in glorious light or when He changed at the Transfiguration

Streams in my desert: Meet the Resurrected You - God’s plan for eternal Heaven is a redeemed earth free from the curse, inhabited by active, embodied people. We will have things to do, places to go, people to see. Our destiny is to rule under the King on the New Earth, to His glory. We’ll serve and worship Him with purified hearts, minds, and bodies, forever enjoying His vast and beautiful creation and sharing in His boundless happiness. We will delight endlessly in our God and He will delight in us
