Read Exodus 26:1 through 27:21; Matthew 18:21 through 19:12
“Command the people of Israel to bring you pure oil of pressed olives for the light, to keep the lamps burning continually” - (Exodus 27:20).
The presence of light is comforting.
Children often want night-lights.
Parents frequently leave a light on when their teenager is out for the evening.
Even garage door companies give us automatic lighting when we open our garage doors.
Throughout the Bible, the presence of God is associated with light.
As you read the Bible, note the pillar of fire that protected and guided the Israelites at night during their sojourn through the wilderness, the constant light burning in the temple, Jesus’ identification as the Light of the World, and the pure light emanating from the throne of God.
The comparisons between God’s presence and light provide a sense of God’s nature.
While physical light is comforting, it is even more comforting to allow the light of your Father to fill your life.
Darkness fills the world, but God’s light drives away the darkness and assures His people that He is there.
Thought for Today:
Is God your light?
Quicklook: Exodus 27:20–21
The Scriptures, both the Old and New Testaments, are verbally inspired of God and are the revelation of God to man, the infallible, authoritative rule of faith and conduct.
The one true God has revealed Himself as the eternally self-existent "I AM," the Creator of heaven and earth and the Redeemer of mankind. He has further revealed Himself as embodying the principles of relationship and association as Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
