Don’t Get Trapped - when firefighters follow their training, they can often save both themselves and others who are at risk. In the Book of Revelation, believers are warned of another kind of danger — the danger of getting trapped by sin. Believers can help rescue others from sin only if they keep their own lives free of its danger. The penalty of sin goes far beyond the danger of physical death. Being clothed in righteousness helps protect us but we must still guard against sin. With God’s help you can help others escape by offering them the only hope we have — Jesus Christ

Read Revelation 17:1 through 18:24

Firefighters don’t enter a burning building to rescue those inside without proper equipment and procedures.

The lives of those in danger are valuable.

When firefighters follow their training, they can often save both themselves and others who are at risk.

In the Book of Revelation, believers are warned of another kind of danger — the danger of getting trapped by sin.

Then I heard another voice calling from heaven,

“Come away from her, my people. Do not take part in her sins or you will be punished with her” - (Revelation 18:4).

Believers can help rescue others from sin only if they keep their own lives free of its danger.

The penalty of sin goes far beyond the danger of physical death.

Being clothed in righteousness helps protect us but we must still guard against sin.

With God’s help you can help others escape by offering them the only hope we have — Jesus Christ.

Prayer Suggestion

Father, help me to stay far from the snare of sin.

Quicklook: Revelation 18:4–8

GOD'S WORD FOR TODAY

The Scriptures, both the Old and New Testaments, are verbally inspired of God and are the revelation of God to man, the infallible, authoritative rule of faith and conduct.

The one true God has revealed Himself as the eternally self-existent "I AM," the Creator of heaven and earth and the Redeemer of mankind. He has further revealed Himself as embodying the principles of relationship and association as Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

God Will Rescue You - when we say what God promise us, He will deliver us from every trap of the devil. He will cover us with His wings like a mother hen covers her chicks when danger is near. He will be our shield from every fiery dart of the enemy. We can walk through life oblivious to the calamity that the enemy has planned for us as God snatches us out of every snare. As long as we consistently confess the Lord as our refuge and our fortress He will deliver us. Our responsibility is to fear not - it’s a divine order

Streams in my desert: I Will Say of the Lord - there is power in the words we speak when they come from a heart o faith in God’s Word. When our words totally agree with the promises God has given to us, we have taken the strongest position of faith possible: and faith moves God. “I will say of the Lord,” can be our declaration preceding every promise God has given to us in the entire Bible. We must begin saying of the Lord who He is in our life. Then watch Him rise up within our heart and our life to be all we have declared

Streams in my desert: If You're Feeling Trapped - negative thoughts come to us all, and we can’t stop them from coming. The mistake we make is when we verbalize them. When you start speaking words of defeat, of lack, or of how you don’t see how a situation can turn around, you just gave life to that negative. When these negative thoughts come, don’t verbalize them - what traps us is our words. The key is to not say what you feel, what you think, what it looks like. Say what God says about you

Streams in my desert: Words of Life - to believe yet contradict our beliefs with careless words from our mouth is not acceptable in God’s sight. Such words not only become faithless and fruitless to us, but they can produce doubts in others — both believers and unbelievers. Always speak the kind of words that confirm what we believe or think in our hearts about our Heavenly Father, His love, and His power. As we go about our daily activities today, let us speak the words of life that delight the Lord

Streams in my desert: Rescued - when God’s people earnestly and humbly cry out to Him for help, they can be sure He will come to their aid. It may be in the form of an instant miracle — or the right doctor, teacher, counselor, or pastor. Whatever the case, you can trust Him to rescue you in His way and time. “Be still in the presence of the Lord, and wait patiently for him to act”

Streams in my desert: When God Seems Absent - do you feel that God has been absent or distant in some way? God was invisible, but He was not out of touch or passive. Even when you think you have lost all, God uses it as an opportunity to awaken you to the realization that He is still in charge, as well as to bring you to your knees. God may have seemed absent from you, but He has been present all along. He knows your heart. He knows the true condition of your soul. He's heard your cry, and He will not turn you away

Streams in my desert: The Power of the Holy Spirit - The Power of the Holy Spirit - at any time you can get a sudden breakthrough that propels you through Satan's defense. God can turn your desperate situation around in the blink of an eye. One touch from the Spirit of God will instantly change your life. The Holy Spirit fills those who believe in Jesus, and mighty miracles of salvation, healing, deliverance and provision are being poured out in abundance by the Spirit of God. You do not have to be stuck in a battle nor trapped in a season. It is neither our might nor power that defeats the enemy. It is the Spirit of God who breaks us free and mightily propels us forward

Streams in my desert: He brought me out of the miry clay - if you’ve ever been stuck in quicksand, you know the feeling of being caught in the staggering helplessness of miry clay. David wants to convey the idea of being desperately trapped in abysmally dark circumstances, powerless to escape. The only thing we can do is wait patiently for the Lord to rescue us. Whatever the pit may have been, David has learned in times of trouble to cry out to the Lord. Miry clay is also a picture of Jesus Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection and the resulting salvation believers experience through Him. God brought him out of the miry clay and is alive now and lives forever
