Called for a Purpose - the Lord has personally selected you. Wrapped up in the very word for “church” is the idea of being called out for a specific reason. God has called us out of our own plans for our lives, and out of the confusion of our past. Then once He calls us out, He calls us in, into the excellency of His Kingdom, into communion with Him, and into His plan for our lives. We “press on” so that we may grasp God’s plan for us. You will find your firmest purpose, deepest fulfillment, and highest joy

"Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me."Philippians 3:12

We have not chosen Him but He has chosen us (John 15:16)

The Lord has personally selected you.

It may sometimes seem that the plan lies just around the next bend in the road of our spiritual walk with Christ, just beyond our reach or not very well defined.

But we “press on” so that we may grasp God’s plan for us, the plan God had in mind when He “grasped” us!

Keep moving on!

His plan is there for you!

And it is in His plan that you will find your firmest purpose, deepest fulfillment, and highest joy.

Great Cloud of Witnesses - we are surrounded by the saints of the past in a unique way. It’s not that they are spectators to the race we run. It is a figurative representation that we ought to act as if they were in sight and cheering us on to the same victory in the life of faith that they obtained. Their past lives of faith encourage others to live that way, too. That the cloud is referred to as “great” indicates that millions of believers have gone before us, each bearing witness to the life of faith we now live

Forgetting the Past - our place in eternity is secure from the moment we trust in Christ, but it takes time to see our actions and attitudes change to be like His. We can learn from the past but we are not bound to what we have done. Instead of being chained by our past mistakes, we can move forward, knowing that we carry Christ's forgiveness. Rather than looking to the past, or to ourselves, we ought to look forward, to an eternity with the Lord

Finish Your Race - we do not run an easy race. Our number one goal in life should be to finish the race God placed before us. We each have a unique race that only we can finish. During the race we must remain faithful to God’s word. Paul said, “I have fought a good fight.” Jesus said that we shall have tribulation but to be of good cheer for He has overcome the world. When we seek God first, we have His wisdom, peace, joy, grace, and all the benefits we receive from being His children. Finish your race and stay faithful to the Lord
