Read Numbers 31:1 through 33:56; Mark 6:14–29
In earlier times, there were no minivans, crossovers, or SUVs.
Big families relied on station wagons. Joe’s family traveled the country in one that was equipped with a jump seat.
The normally flat back end of the station wagon folded up and revealed a rear-facing seat.
Joe loved to ride in that jump seat.
When asked why, he answered, “I like to see where we’ve been.”
The Bible is full of backward-looking moments.
At the Lord’s direction, Moses kept a written record of their progress. (Numbers 33:2).
Why would God want His people to look back?
God knows humans have a tendency to forget.
This puts people in danger of forgetting how God delivered them through hard times.
The Israelites needed to be reminded of their past so they could see His faithfulness in action.
Challenge for Today:
Reflect on where God has taken you.
Thank Him for the good times and the bad times.
Quicklook: Numbers 33:1–4
The Scriptures, both the Old and New Testaments, are verbally inspired of God and are the revelation of God to man, the infallible, authoritative rule of faith and conduct.
The one true God has revealed Himself as the eternally self-existent "I AM," the Creator of heaven and earth and the Redeemer of mankind. He has further revealed Himself as embodying the principles of relationship and association as Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
