Future Promises, Not Earthly Promises - when we claim future promises during our earthly lives, we ignore key passages of Scripture and create a false belief system. Christ's work is completed in the spiritual realm but not yet in the earthly realm. We are healed by Christ's stripes, physically, emotionally, and spiritually, and that healing begins here on earth. But it won't be complete until heaven when Jesus wipes away every tear, ending death and pain forever. There are some popular misunderstandings based on applying future promises to our present lives

.

When people say God promises Christians health, wealth, and comfort here on earth, they ignore passages like Romans 8:18-25:

"We know that the whole creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time.

"Not only so, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for our adoption to sonship, the redemption of our bodies ... we hope for what we do not yet have ..."

When we claim future promises during our earthly lives, we ignore key passages of Scripture and create a false belief system.

Hebrews 2:5-9 and 1 Corinthians 15:20-28 also tell us that Christ's work is completed in the spiritual realm but not yet in the earthly realm.(1)

We are healed by Christ's stripes, physically, emotionally, and spiritually,(2) and that healing begins here on earth.

But it won't be complete until heaven when Jesus wipes away every tear, ending death and pain forever (Revelation 21:4).

There are some popular misunderstandings based on applying future promises to our present lives.

But the Scriptures linked above can help us avoid that confusion.

Hi!  I'm Gail Burton Purath. I started Bible Love Notes to give people a minute of scriptural encouragement in their busy day.

I don't have all the answers, but since I asked Christ to be my Lord and Savior in 1974, I've been learning from the One Who has all the answers!

He Sees Your Tears - perhaps you’re in a season when tears are coming and going. Let me encourage you; it is in those seasons that God is doing his most incredible work. Through tears wrought within the peril and weakness of a Christian’s pilgrimage, God is bending low to hear His child’s cries. Practically speaking, our tears have a purpose. They remind us of our need. They remind us that even Christ’s tears fell. They remind us that tears will one day be no more

The Best is Yet to Come - John saw a vision of a new heaven and a new earth replacing the millennial heaven and earth. "The heavens" as referred to here, does not include the heaven where God dwells. The absence of a sea assures us this verse does not refer to the millennial earth, because during the millennium large bodies of water will exist. It must describe the eternal earth. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain. Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man, and He will dwell with them

New Heavens and the New Earth - the creation of the new heavens and new earth brings the promise that God “will wipe every tear from their eyes.” Things will be completely new and the old order of things, with the accompanying sorrow and tragedy, will be gone. It will be earth as God originally intended it to be. A major feature of the new earth will be the New Jerusalem. This city represents the final state of the redeemed forever in fellowship with God
