Rainbows and God’s Promises - there’s no end to a rainbow - a rainbow is a full circle. Rainbows give us much to consider — how God has no beginning or end, and that He reveals His promises to us no matter where we are. Our never-ending, eternal God “set His rainbow in the clouds” as a promise to never flood the earth again “to destroy all life.” Our Creator shares His reminder of that promise with us, His creation. “The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of all the earth ... Sword of the Spirit - when the apostle Paul referred to “the word of God” as “the sword of the Spirit,” he used the word rhema for “word of God.” He seems to be saying that we should take up a portion, a verse, or a promise in Scripture when defending ourselves in spiritual warfare. That’s what Jesus did when He defended Himself against the temptations of Satan in the wilderness. Three times He quoted verses from Deuteronomy to refute Satan’s carnal attempts. Just as Jesus quoted the Old Testament from memory in the wilderness, so must we commit Scripture to memory, so it is always at hand when Satan attacks. Satan has no defense against the power of the truth of God

Asleep in Jesus - when an unbeliever dies, he dies without hope. When a believer dies, he is simply “asleep,” as far as his body is concerned. At the same time, his soul and spirit go to be with the Lord. The Bible uses the term “sleep” to describe death only in the case of Christians — never for non-Christians. There is genuine sorrow, of course, when a believer dies, but that sorrow is softened and sublimated by the “blessed hope” of Christ’s return. The souls of those whose bodies who are asleep will return with the Lord when He returns. “For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him”

Stand in victory - our past failures don’t disqualify us; they can deepen our dependence and sharpen our obedience. Not all battles come with swords drawn. The enemy often comes in disguise. The devil is a master of suggestion, of false reasoning that blurs conviction with compassion. That’s why spiritual discernment is armor as much as the sword.
