The Silver Cord and Spiritual Warfare - understanding the silver cord is not about curiosity but about discernment, as it reveals the very real battles taking place between life and death. Dabbling in occult practices or new age experiences such as astral projection or transcendental meditation is not harmless curiosity. It is opening a door to spiritual bondage. The silver cord stands as a reminder of the unseen war and the urgent need to remain rooted in Christ, armored with truth and steadfast against the schemes of the enemy. Scripture reminds us that “we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world”

What Does the Bible Say About the Silver Cord and Spiritual Warfare?

The Overlooked Reality of the Silver Cord

Among the mysteries of Scripture, few topics are as rarely discussed or as often dismissed as the silver cord.

Mentioned briefly in Ecclesiastes 12:6, it is a concept that many believers either overlook or fail to understand.

Yet, as testimonies reveal, its significance reaches deep into the spiritual realm.

For Christians, understanding the silver cord is not about curiosity but about discernment, as it reveals the very real battles taking place between life and death.

Jennifer Bagnaschi on the Silver Cord

Jennifer Bagnaschi, host of the Deep Believer podcast, recently addressed the subject head-on.

“Would you believe that 90% of people have no idea what the silver cord is?

"Ninety percent of Christians, evangelists, theologians overlook it,” she explained.

According to Bagnaschi, this neglect highlights the danger of believers remaining uninformed about spiritual realities while the occult world actively engages with them.

Norman: A Child’s Encounter With Astral Projection

Norman, one of Bagnaschi’s guests, shared his disturbing experiences as a child who practiced astral projection.

He described sensing a tether that kept him alive during these out-of-body journeys:

“In order to get back into your body, those who astral project need it.”

His experience culminated in a frightening moment when his cousin saw only Norman’s disembodied head with glowing eyes, which convinced him never to pursue astral travel again.

Julie: An Ex-Witch Explains the Cord

Julie, a former witch, offered a more detailed explanation of what she encountered in the occult.

“That silver cord is what is connecting one and another.

"So it’s your soul that leaves.

"It’s like the astral body you have, and the silver cord is the solder in this astral body,” she explained.

Julie warned that if the cord is ever severed, the soul cannot return:

“If they get out, they can die.

"They literally, if the silver cord is broken, they die. That’s it.”

Dave: A Pastor’s Testimony of Deliverance

Dave, a pastor who directly battled the occult, recounted an intense encounter with a high-level Satanist named Anton LaVey.

During the confrontation, Dave said he heard clear instruction from the Lord:

“I heard the voice of the Lord as clear as I’ve ever heard anything, cut his silver cord.”

When he prayed in Jesus’ name, Anton’s spirit was unable to return to his body, freeing Dave’s daughter from demonic control.

“Suddenly she came bursting through the door, saw me, and she was free,” he recalled.

A Warning for Believers

These testimonies highlight the dangerous reality of the silver cord and the spiritual realm it represents.

Scripture reminds us that “we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world” - (Ephesians 6:12).

Dabbling in occult practices or new age experiences such as astral projection or meditation is not harmless curiosity, it is opening a door to spiritual bondage.

The silver cord stands as a reminder of the unseen war Paul spoke of, and the urgent need to remain rooted in Christ, armored with truth and steadfast against the schemes of the enemy.

Astral Projection - when Paul says that he knew someone who was caught up to the third heaven, he was speaking about entering into the dwelling place of God. What is important is that it occurred either in the body or out of the body, of which he did not know. It is possible that this occurrence Paul speaks about, which is probably about himself, might very well be in reference to the instance when he was stoned and left for dead. The Bible tells us that we are to avoid any occult practices. Astral projection is just such an event. It amounts to what the Bible calls divination and sorcery and is to be avoided. It may open up individuals to demonic oppression since it is in violation of the Scriptures

Telepathy or Psycho-kinesis - the Bible mentions cases of objects moving or changing into something else. Humans cannot use their minds to move or create objects. Those in the spirit realm can. So, every mysterious occurrence must be powered either by God or the enemy. If God is glorified through the event, we can deduce the event occurred through Him. If, however, the event was frivolous and had nothing to do with God’s glory, it must have come through another source. The Bible makes it clear that witchcraft and sorcery are to be avoided at all costs. Trying to read another’s thoughts, move objects around a room, or create an energy ball takes time and effort away from the business of loving God and opens a dangerous door into the world of the occult

The Evil Eye - another name for the evil eye is the "invidious eye." The superstition holds that a resentful person can, intentionally or not, transmit a curse by looking at someone, or something, with jealousy or envy. The evil eye is a superstition and is not found in the Bible. Our troubles are not from a supposed evil eye and no amulet or spell will keep our lives free of difficulty. In this world we will encounter trouble, and we know that spiritual warfare is real. Christians have no need to hold to, or fear, superstitions. The enemy of our soul is defeated. Christians have no need to hold to, or fear, superstitions. We should heed Jesus' words and avoid envy, looking for trouble, and other forms of evil. This is not out of superstition but to obey Christ and live righteously
