The armor of God - the girdle of truth is a clear understanding of God’s Word. It holds the rest of the armor in place like a soldier’s belt. Jesus is our righteousness, so we put Him on. The breastplate represents our active obedience to the Word of God. The preparation of the gospel of peace is faithful ministry in proclaiming the Word of God. The shield of faith is complete safety by faith in the blood. No power of the enemy can penetrate the blood. The helmet of salvation is the covering of our Lord Jesus Christ. The sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God is to be used offensively against the enemy. “Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit . . .” You’ve got on the armor. Now you’re ready for the prayer fight

"Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand." — Ephesians 6:13

The message of the armor tells us how to take our place and maintain it against the devil (Ephesians 6:10-18).

“Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth . . .”

The girdle of truth is a clear understanding of God’s Word.

It holds the rest of the armor in place like a soldier’s belt.

“. . . And having on the breastplate of righteousness.”

The breastplate has two meanings:

(1) Jesus is our righteousness, so we put Him on;

(2) The breastplate represents our active obedience to the Word of God.

“And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace.”

This is faithful ministry in proclaiming the Word of God.

“Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.”

This is complete safety by faith in the blood.

No power of the enemy can penetrate the blood!

“And take the helmet of salvation . . .”

This is the covering of our Lord Jesus Christ.

“. . . The sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.”

All other parts of the armor are for protection (defense).

This one is to be used offensively against the enemy.

“Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit . . .”

You’ve got on the armor.

Now you’re ready for the prayer fight.

Confession:

(Confess yourself in the armor. Say, “I stand therefore, having my loins girt about with truth . . ,” and so forth.)

What the Bible Says About Spiritual Warfare - doubt, anxiety and depression will keep you out of the Bible. The Bible will keep you out of doubt, anxiety and depression. The assurance of our salvation is our helmet - renew our minds while rejecting all doubts. When the accuser reminds you of your past, remind him of his future. There is such power in God’s Word if we’d only tap it daily. The Sword must be kept sharp because rust never sleeps. Pull out the Sword, quote Scripture, pray always. Then you can stand firm against the schemes of the Devil

Streams in my desert: The Sword of the Spirit - God refers to His Word, the Bible, as a sword. It is living and active and sharper than a double-edged sword. The sword is both an offensive and defensive weapon. The Roman sword having two edges, made it easier to penetrate, as well as to cut in every way. The idea is that of piercing, or penetrating. The Word of God reaches the “heart,” the very center of action and lays open the motives and feelings of those it touches. The sword of the Spirit makes us strong and able to withstand the evil onslaughts of Satan, our enemy

Streams in my desert: Revealing the Secrets of Spiritual Warfare: Powerful Truths for Victory - we at war with Satan and demons, though we may not always be in a battle. These battles are the specific conflicts in your life where Satan or demons are actively working to oppose, harm, or destroy you or God's purpose for you. War requires weapons, even if they are as simple as bare hands. In spiritual warfare, however, our weapons are not physical. God wants us to put on the whole armor, not just take one or two. The armor of God is the way we live which either protects you from Satanic attacks, exposes you to them or destroys his works. God’s armor are the things we do that have a direct impact on Satan and his demons. Put on the whole armor of God. And after having done all, stand — and remain standing

Streams in my desert: Full Armor of God - the full armor of God describes some of the blessings of God in the life of a Christian with which He has equipped us to stand firm against the evil one and have spiritual victory over the enemy. Prayer is an often forgotten part of the armor of God but is essential to using the armor of God well. When Satan attacks us, we are able to withstand because we know whom we have believed. Prayer is the way we draw strength from God and rely on Him. In essence, it is what "activates" the armor. The Word of God is our best offense

Streams in my desert: The Word of God is Living and Active - God's Word can distinguish between the godly and ungodly. The razor-sharp truth of the Word of God will separate what is truly spiritual from what is faithless. To man, the soul and spirit seem indistinguishable, but the Word of God can even discern between these. This incredible "cutting" power of Scripture is therefore a tool to separate our very thoughts into good and evil. Christians should strive to complete the work given them by God in order to obtain heavenly rewards. The most potent tool we have in this effort is the razor-sharp Word of God. We should make every effort to obtain our inheritance in Christ, which is something separate from our eternal salvation

Streams in my desert: Spiritual Warfare - our battle is against spiritual powers. We are to stand firm with the belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness, the gospel of peace, the shield of faith, the helmet of salvation, the sword of the Spirit, and by praying in the Spirit. Our offensive weapon is the Word of God - it is the Spirit’s sword. And we are to pray in the power and will of the Holy Spirit. We can only stand strong in the Lord’s power - it is God’s armor that protects us. We are to proclaim the gospel no matter how much resistance we face. We are to trust God’s promises no matter how strongly we are attacked

Streams in my desert: The Helmet of Salvation - the battle with the enemy begins in your mind. Your mind and thoughts are the battleground. The helmet of salvation relates to the belief that we are born again children of God who belong to the kingdom of God. The devil might try to sow seeds of doubt in your mind such as making you doubt your salvation, or might tempt you to doubt God’s word and God’s promises. The helmet of salvation is a part of the Armor of God. We therefore must have a MINDSET that PROTECTS us from the enemy
